A defiant middle section proclaiming that ‘no fear be known to us’ creates cohesion and contrast.
In essence, the piano writing creates the feeling of a dance – singers must be aware of this throughout so that their rhythms reinforce and interact with those of the piano, creating an overall atmosphere of joy and contentment.
